Holy... would ya look at that.
It's what we were all rooting for... the football gods have answered our prayers.
The night started with the Bengals trying to make it all about them; by announcing Joe Burrow's Massive contract...
The night ended with one team on the mind... the Detroit Lions.
Lions Beat the Chiefs 21-20
An electric start to the season; a gritty come from behind win over the reigning champs.
The Detroit Lions hand Mahomes and the boys a loss at Arrow Head to start the season.
The Kansas City Chiefs... contrary to what some people may have been tweeting; definitely could use Travis Kelce back.
What did we learn?!
But for real what can we take away from the week one upset of the century??
For the Chiefs, not a whole lot matters before Thanksgiving... but for the Lions, this means everything.
We know they're locked in and ready to win every game, considering Dan Campbell called a fake punt the second drive of the season on their own side of the field.
Some solid football out of the Lions early.. but some costly mistakes had them down at half time.
After driving the length of the field, Marvin Jones Jr. Fumbled for the first time in his career leading to a Kansas City touchdown.
A fumble this early would have derailed the lions of old into a spiral they wouldn't come out of untill week 3 or 4; but they locked in and turned it around.
Are the Lions for real?!
We are seeing a culture of hard nosed old school football being cultivated in Detroit Michigan.
And that attitude showed itself Thursday night especially late in the game... the Lions definitely have that DAWG in them.
In an NFC North that's up for the taking; there's no reason that Dan Campbell's Lions can't make a nice run this post season.
The Chiefs came out looking like their old dominant selves, but in the second half...
The Lions defense held Patrick Mahomes' offense to 6 total points, giving Jared Goff enough rope to climb back in and get the W.
The leader of the pride, threw for 253 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions.
The massive tipped pick six from Brian Branch off the hands of Giants Legend Kadarius Toney kept the Lions alive, when Kansas City was starting to put some pressure on early.
Josh Reynolds's and Amon-Ra St. Brown combined for 151 yards and a touchdown; the weapons were active for Jared Goff.
And to close it out... the 74 yard 1 touchdown performance from David Montgomery was too much for the Chiefs Defense to handle.
Will they go all the way?!
The NFC is a clusterfuck this season, and literally anyone can come out of the conference...
You know what they always say
"You gotta start 1 and 0 to go undefeated..."
And with MCDC getting the boys going every week, I'm not betting against the Lions.
Lions to the Moon 🚀
